Questions families ask
Anything not here, call or write and we will answer within a day.
How do I try a class?
Pick a class on the schedule and book it on our enrollment page. Come ten minutes early, and the teacher will meet you at the door.
Which class is right for my child?
Musical theatre is the usual first class for most students, because it has a little of everything. Jazz and dance suits a student who likes to move, and voice and acting suits one who likes to read and sing. Tell us what your student has done before and we will point you to one.
What should they wear?
Clothes they can move in, and clean sneakers or jazz shoes that stay in the studio. Socks are fine for the first weeks.
Do I need to stay, and may I watch?
Parents of students under 12 bring them in and wait in the lobby, which has a window onto Studio A. Older students come in on their own. You may watch at showcase night in June or on a watch day each session.
What is a level, and how does a student move up?
A level is an age group with its own skills: Chorus, Ensemble, Cast and Adult beginners. After each session the teacher and the family talk about whether the next level fits. There is no test.
What are the extras, like costumes?
Students in the production have a costume and a production charge, and guests need tickets. Shoes and dancewear are bought by the family. We don't compete, so there are no entries or travel.
How are photos handled?
We ask your written permission before we share any photo of your child, on this site, in newsletters or on social media, and you can change your answer at any time. We never put a child's name with a photo, and the photos on this site are examples until we replace them with our own.
What if we miss a class?
Text or call, and book a make-up in another class of the same group, or the one just below it, within the same session.
How does tuition work?
It depends on the group and how many classes a week a student takes. Our figures are on the enrollment page, and we are glad to go through each part on the phone.
What is the production weekend?
One weekend in May when the cast performs, three shows in all. Auditions are in January, and rehearsals run on Saturday afternoons from February. Classes need no audition.
Still wondering?
